Disability Insurance Awareness Month - DIAM - Consumer Information

You’re in the prime of your working years. You’re able-bodied and fit and probably haven’t given much thought, if any, to the possibility of something happening that would prevent you from going to work every day. It’s even less likely that you’ve spent time thinking about your need for disability insurance. That’s a mistake a lot of people make. They think disability insurance is something they’ll get to eventually, maybe when they’re a little older or when health issues start to arise. In reality, a disabling illness or injury can strike at any time, and the odds of it happening to you are much greater than you probably realize. During your working years, the chances of experiencing a disability lasting three months or more is roughly three in 10.

Make sure you and your family are protected in the event a disability kept you from doing your job. If you have any doubts as to how you or your family would manage without your income for a period of time, explore the LIFE website to learn more about disability insurance coverage.
